Virgin Mary statue reportedly ‘cries blood’ in Cebu, Philippines
Neighbors from around Barangay Tisa, Cebu City flocked to the home of Victor Jude Rayla Tuesday to see a 12 inch statute of the Virgin Mary, an icon found in many Filipino homes.
However, it is reported by the SunStar that the reason for all the attention this morning was that neighbors say the statue was crying blood.
The Catholic Church, the predominant religious institution in the Philippines said it will investigate the claims. Msgr. Esteban Binghay said in an interview, “The first step is to look into the incident if it is really a miracle or just a mysterious occurrence. The Church is careful in its action.”
This is by no means the only time that the Catholic icon has reportedly cried blood. One example was four years ago in Sacramento, California, when it was reported that a statue of the Virgin Mary cried at the small Vietnamese Catholic Martyrs church.
