Video: Rand Paul throws support for Mitt Romney–an act of blasphemy?
Many Ron Paul supporters are sitting scratching their head today after the congressman’s son, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul announced on Hannity Thursday evening that he was endorsing the former Massachusetts governor.

Naturally, the establishment Republican class like Sean Hannity are tickled over the endorsement.
Mitt Romney put out a press release Thursday on his campaign web site stating:
“I am honored to have earned the endorsement of Rand Paul. Senator Paul has been a leading voice in the effort to scale back the size and reach ofgovernment and promote liberty. Over the past three and a half years, President Obama has made government more and more of a presence in our lives, and Americans can’t afford four more years of the same failed policies. As President, I will reform the federal government and make it smaller, simpler, and smarter. I am grateful for Senator Paul’s support and look forward to working with him to get America back on the right track.”
However, what about the die-hard Ron Paul supporters?
On the pro-Ron Paul web site Daily Paul, the video received in excess of 2,400 comments of all varieties. Here is a sample:
“Perhaps the Rand apologists here (and certainly Rand himself!) have forgotten who Hannity devoted several shows to the “Ron Paul is racist” theme”.
Another reader equated it to Hanoi Jane saying,
“In fact, I took 2 showers after this – 1 for watching something with Shamity and the other for Rand’s ‘betrayal’.
This makes no sense that Rand would do this when (I thought) his father was still campaigning – but the media said Ron dropped out – the media said the nomination process was over.
I thought the media was wrong – Ron didn’t drop out, the nomination process wasn’t over yet as we haven’t had the Tampa convention.
So which is it – who is lying to the RP supporters – something is really screwed up here.
IF RP is really running for president – he should grab his jack-ass son and send him to his room without supper for the night and/or ground him for a week for this stupid act he did and of all shows to do this on – Hannity!! Ughh… why Shamity – Shamity is no friend to RP! What the hell is this??
Someone has some explaining to do and fast!!”
Others expressed support for Libertarian Presidential Candidate Gary Johnson: “Gary Johnson has my vote, Ron Paul does not. end of story”.
Others had a more positive outlook: “In every other manner, Ron Paul has been brilliant AND he’s been at it for thirty years and counting. He talked this over with his son and he knows what he’s doing. I say trust the man. I know I do”.
Regardless, the endorsement of Mitt Romney by Rand Paul has, at least momentarily, shaken up the liberty movement.
