VIDEO: Journalist has to pry off the hand of Santa Cruz Mayor Percy Fernandez from her thigh
The mayor of the largest city on Bolivia, in fact, one fastest growing cities in the world, was caught on tape groping a journalist at a public event last week.

In the video, a journalist from the UNO network, Mercedes Guzman, greeted Santa Cruz de la Sierra Mayor Percy Fernandez at the event with a kiss on the cheek and sat next to him in her assigned seat. The 75-year-old Fernandez returned the favor by placing a vice-grip on Guzman’s thigh. It took the reporter all she had to remove the claw-like grip Fernandez held so inappropriately.
CNN reports that this is not the first time the Mayor has been recorded on video groping a female at a public event. In 2012 he was caught groping city council President Desireé Bravo’s bottom twice.
Like most politicians, a public outcry and an angry Guzman family forced the elder mayor to apologize. “I’m worried that I might’ve disrespected you while you were performing your duties. I apologize again to you and your dignified family,” Fernandez says in a video to Santa Cruz media.
