Vernon Heartsell, man living in shed, killed as tornadoes and storms bash central and south US
A massive storm system is delivering tornadoes, fierce winds and heavy rain swept through several states in the central U.S. and South early Wednesday, reportedly killing at least one person in Tennessee and damaging homes and businesses in multiple states.
CBS Nashville affiliate WTVF-TV reports one person was killed when a tree fell on a shed.
Another person was reported injured by lightning in Arkansas during the storm’s eastward trek as the approaching cold front is sweeping over a large part of the East Coast in coming hours.
47-year-old Vernon Eugene Heartsell, reportedly lived inside of a shed and was killed after a tree fell on the shed.
Reports of damages have been coming in from all over Middle Tennessee and Kentucky.

WDRB tells Fox News tornado sirens are going off in downtown Louisville. The station described the storm as “wild and dangerous.” Damage was reported earlier in the morning in the Fort Campbell area.
Fox 59 reports as many as 20 homes sustained heavy storm damage in eastern Greene County in Indiana. An Indiana police spokesman called the area “hazardous,” saying debris was reported on state roadways and power outages are widespread.
Thousands were left without power in Arkansas amid damage to the rooftops of homes. Entergy Arkansas Inc. reported at least 9,000 power outages in several communities around Arkansas, including in and around Little Rock. Flooding was reported in low-lying areas of Jonesboro in Arkansas’ northeastern corner.
