UW-Madison senior, Henry Mackaman, loses battle with bacterial meningitis
In a follow-up to a story earlier today, a 21-year-old Economics major and DJ on WSUM Student Radio, lost his battle with the serious bacterial infection, meningococcal meningitis, according to a University of Wisconsin-Madison news report today.
Henry Mackaman, 21, was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis and was hospitalized in Madison earlier this week. Today, his family took him off life support and donated his organs for transplantation.
“Henry was so loved by everyone who knew him, both in the Twin Cities and here in Madison,” says Dean of Students Lori Berquam. “After spending time with his family, I know Henry would be grateful to know that his organs will benefit others.”
Mackaman, an economics and English double major, a guitarist for a local band, Phantom Vibration, a son and a brother is survived by his father, Douglas Mackaman, mother Meredith Leigh Mackaman, brother Owen Lee Mackaman, and stepmother Maggie O’Hara.
