‘UnFair: Exposing the IRS’ documentary coming theaters in October
Fathom Events and Gadsden Films bring the IRS debate to select theaters nationwide with “UnFair: Exposing the IRS” on Tuesday, October 14, at 7:00 p.m. local time.
“UnFair: Exposing the IRS” is the feature-length documentary investigating the alleged cover-ups and abuses of power at the Internal Revenue Service. The documentary is written and produced by nationally syndicated radio show host Craig Bergman, who is also the author of the companion book, “The IRS is UnFair.” The film’s executive producer is John Sullivan, the co-director of the hit films “America” and “2016.” The film features such luminaries as Gov. Mike Huckabee, Glenn Beck, Ted Cruz, Michele Bachmann, David Barton, Grover Norquist, Louie Gohmert, John Linder, Carla Howell, Brian Brown and many more. The film will be followed by a 30-minute panel discussion with leading political experts in front of a live studio audience, hosted by Gov. Huckabee.
Tickets for “UnFair: Exposing the IRS” are available at participating theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com. The event will be presented in more than 650 select movie theaters around the country through Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network. For a complete list of theater locations and prices, visit the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).
Bergman, Sullivan and director Judd Saul, the filmmakers of “Unfair: Exposing the IRS,” traveled across the country to interview politicians, community organizers and the alleged victims at the heart of the IRS debate. They describe the documentary as a thought-provoking experience that will allow attendees to join with others in their community to see and hear another perspective on the practices of the IRS.
“In my opinion, the IRS has become a criminal enterprise that shakes down innocent people, harasses them out of business, and does so without accountability,” Gov. Mike Huckabee said. “It’s an organization that wants you to provide a restaurant receipt from seven years ago, but it can’t even follow federal law to keep up with its internal correspondence by email. Further, it is run by bureaucrats who loudly proclaim they’ve done nothing wrong, all while taking the fifth to avoid getting caught abusing government power for political purposes. ‘Unfair: Exposing the IRS’ will reveal what the IRS doesn’t want you to know, but what you need to know before your liberty gets trampled on.”
Executive Producer John Sullivan noted, “In my view, this film sheds light on how the IRS is being turned into a tool of intimidation against everyday Americans including our veteran groups, which is simply unjust. I’m very excited to help bring this film to theaters to start a larger national conversation.”
John Sullivan is a producer with nearly 20 years in the entertainment industry. He is most well-known for his work as cowriter, co-director and producer of the highly acclaimed documentary “America: Imagine the World Without Her” and the top grossing conservative political documentary, “2016: Obama’s America.” He was also a producer on Ben Stein’s educational system expose, “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed” (2006).
Craig Bergman is a nationally syndicated radio talk show host (“America’s Wake Up Call”), with extensive political campaign and grassroots organization experience at both state and national levels. Bergman has served as campaign manager, senior staff or in a consulting role for multiple candidates, including five Presidential races, six Gubernatorial races, eight U.S. Senate races, dozens of Congressional races and innumerous state and local races. He has served as a consultant for national organizations such as the Christian Coalition, Focus on the Family and Americans for Prosperity. Prior to his political consulting, he worked as a vice president in banking for several major banks.
Bergman noted that, “The efforts to silence the churches and the extremist positions of figures like Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada to alter the First Amendment to the Constitution are proof that ‘Tax policy is moral policy.’”
“Movie theaters are the perfect place for this national ‘town hall’ event as local communities can engage in discussion around Mike Huckabee’s thought-provoking ‘UnFair: Exposing the IRS,’” Fathom Events CEO John Rubey said.
