UK: One person dies from novel coronavirus in latest family cluster
In a follow up to “family cluster” of three cases of novel coronavirus in the UK reported last week, the Health Protection Agency reports that one person has died as a result of the respiratory infection, according to an HPA news release Feb. 19.
According to health officials, this patient had an underlying condition that may have made them more susceptible to respiratory infections.
The first case, initially reported on Feb. 11, was the only one with recent travel history to Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, is still receiving treatment for the illness.
The third case, reported on Feb. 15, has already recovered from a mild illness.
This latest fatality is the sixth reported. Half of the 12 confirmed positive cases have resulted in death.
