President Benigno Aquino III has been under harsh criticism over the Philippine government’s actions in response to the devastating storm.

However, the President does have one defender–his youngest sister, actress and television host Kris Aquino, who visited Tacloban City Friday.

“I don’t think my brother has any pagkukulang (shortcomings), and you can’t blame me for wanting to speak up for my brother, because no leader would want this to happen to his country,” Aquino was quoted saying in an interview.

Aquino also said it was “unfair” to put a political spin on the tragedy in the Eastern Visayas saying we should help each other “because we are all Filipinos.”

During Aquino’s trip to Tacloban, she joined other ABS-CBN talents, workers, and executives, who entertained, gave gifts, led medical missions, and distributed relief goods to displaced families who are currently sheltered at the Tacloban City Astrodome.
