Two H7N9 human avian flu cases reported in Foshan City
The Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission Bulletin reports two confirmed cases of human infection with H7N9 avian influenza in Foshan City in central Guangdong province, according to a Ministry of Health and Family Planning Commission release Jan. 13 (computer translated).
According to the release, Case 1 Po A, F, 28 years old, poultry sales staff, currently residing in Foshan Nanhai Lishui. January 8, 2014 the disease, January 9 to Nanhai District, Sixth People’s Hospital for treatment, outpatient I “Tamiflu” treatment, January 12 designated H7N9 infection admitted to a local hospital. Currently patients with stable disease. Close contact with the local health department for medical observation and found no abnormalities.
Case 2 European, male, 46 years old, the driver, now living Shishan Town, Nanhai District, the home of live poultry rearing. January 6, 2014 the disease, designated H7N9 infection admitted to the local hospital on January 9, to give “Tamiflu” treatment.Currently patients in critical condition. Close contact with the local health department for medical observation and found no abnormalities.
Government officials have closed live bird markets for two days.
Health officials say there has been 16 cases of the dangerous virus and one fatality.
