Two Christian pastors, Charles Matole, Ebrahim Kidata murdered in Kenya
Two Protestant pastors were murdered in Kenya over weekend in two separate attacks, Agence France-Press reported.
Charles Matole, leader of Mombasa’s Vikwatani Redeemed Gospel Church, was found with a Bible still on his lap. Shot from behind from a pistol found at the scene, nothing was reported stolen, Matole may have been followed home.
“We found him with blood oozing from the head,” choir member Morris Ali told Sapa-AFP.
“He had received threatening death messages from unknown people. It was reported to the police but it was later concluded that the threats were sent by fraudsters from inside prisons,” his wife, Claris Matole said of the case.
Ebrahim Kidata, a Pentecostal pastor in Kilifi, north of Mombasa, where pastor Kidata of the East African Pentecostal Churches was found murdered in a patch of bushes.
Kidata appeared to have been strangled but police have offered few details.
This area has fallen to violence recently, leading to the killing of a Muslim leader and four others. Riots followed and a Salvation Army Church was attacked and burned as Muslims then clashed with police.
