Twinkies lunchbox sells for $600 on eBay

Hostess may be going under and the fear of a Twinkie-free world is the buzz on the Internet, but an eBay auction took advantage of the interest.

A “Twinkie the Kid” lunch box just sold for $690 on eBay. It is in mint condition, though, notes CNNMoney.

The box went up for sale on November 9 with a price of $14.99 to start. Nothing happened for a week and then today, an onslaught of 58 bids pushed the price to $690.

Bidders who missed out on that lunch box haven’t struck out completely. Other sellers have placed additional Twinkie the Kid lunch boxes on Ebay, with starting prices reaching into the hundreds of dollars.

There are no bids on many of these auctions yet, but the products will remain on the site for days, and Ebay bidding typically heats up as the deadline approaches.
