Trump makes 9/11 ‘slip of the tongue’, ‘talking about police and firemen down at 7/11’

Donald Trump fought back against Ted Cruz’s “New York values” remarks with 9/11 sentiment, but now on campaign in New York Monday, accidentally referred to it on Monday as 7/11 — the common convenience store.

“I wrote this out, and it’s very close to my heart,” Trump said at the outset of his remarks on Buffalo on Monday evening. “Because I was down there and I watched our police and our firemen down at 7/11, down at the World Trade Center right after it came down. And I saw the greatest people I’ve ever seen in action.”

Trump did not correct himself.
Trump spokeswoman Katrina Pierson, who repeatedly stressed that the Republican presidential front-runner misspoke last month when he suggested women be punished for having abortions if the procedure were outlawed, told CNN on Tuesday that he flubbed again when he referred to the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks as “7/11.”

CNN anchor Ashleigh Banfield asked Pierson to respond to what Banfield called a “critical faux pas in this state.”

“Well, I think after you’ve done several events over a short time period people misspeak all the time,” she said. “Slip of the tongue.”

Trump is poised to win a majority share of the delegates in New York’s primary on Tuesday.

Such a flub does not go unnoticed on social media, where the crowd quickly got to work with pictures of giant Slurpees:

  1. Paul says:

FDNY Engine 7, Ladder 1, Battalion 1 100 Duane St, New York, NY 10007. AKA 711. they’re pretty famous in NYC for their role on 9/11, and the documentary made about them. and he didn’t say “at 7/11”, he said “in 7/11”. So, he said “firemen down in 7/11”, while in NYC, where there is a famous documentary about the firemen of 711, and their role on 9/11. He knew exactly what he was saying, lmfao
