Trayvon Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, shopping a book about her son and aftermath
The parents of Trayvon Martin are meeting with publishers, seeking a deal to produce a book about their son.
NY Times details the meetings, saying “two publishing executives who participated in meetings, Mr. Martin’s parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, said they intended to write a book that gives the full picture of their son while tracing their own experience of shock and sorrow.”
Fulton and Martin were accompanied by Jan Miller, their Dallas-based literary agent, and made stirring and somber pitches.
“One publishing executive said Mr. Martin and Ms. Fulton spoke eloquently on social issues of race and religion, suggesting that faith could be a central element of the book.”
The shooting of the unarmed teen rocked headlines, especially when George Zimmerman was determined to have acted in self-defense.
“The book has the potential to attract major media attention, especially on cable television, which exhaustively covered the fatal shooting and subsequent trial,” noted the article
