Tom Taylor, Idris Elba star in new ‘Dark Tower’ movie photos

While fans will still need wait a bit for some footage, some Dark Tower photos teased the big screen adaptation of the popular Stephen King novel(s). Taking center stage is Idris Elba and Tom Taylor.

Taylor plays Jake Chambers, a young boy who assists Elba as the protagonist (Roland Deschain) faces off against Matthew McConaughey’s Walter Padick aka The Man in Black. Taylor exists on Earth, but also ventures to “Mid-World”, which is where the bulk of The Dark Tower takes place. In this new image, we see the doorway that separates Earth from Mid-World, with Taylor preparing to walk through.

Collider notes that ” the film is essentially acting as a sequel of sorts, as it picks up after the book’s events have taken place, but also as part of a repeating cycle of events that continues to occur (trying to be intentionally vague here so as not to spoil things).”

King authored eight books in the Dark Tower series over the past thirty years and Ron Howard has taken the lead on getting the big project to film after years and years of delays and failures.

Sony landed Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair) directing and Howard producing with production still underway.

Claudia Kim is playing a character named Arra Champignon, Jackie Earle Haley as Sayre, Abbey Lee as Tirana, and Katheryn Winnick.

The Dark Tower opens in theaters on February 17, 2017.
