Tom Hardy teases more ‘Mad Max’ films, says he’s ready to ‘jump on it’
At SDCC Mad Max: Fury Road star Tom Hardy promoted his film Venom, but took a moment to tease returning for more Mad Max films.
“There was always a plan to do three of them. I think we are still waiting on being given the opportunity and the green light to do the next one,” Hardy said while speaking to Variety at San Diego Comic-Con. “But a lot of projects are in radial, you know, you wait for something to land or when it’s real. As soon as it’s real, we’ll jump on it.”
Fury Road was stuck in development hell for nearly two decades and the film’s creator George Miller has been suing Warner Bros over lost fees and dues. Miller is now 73, so the rights could go on to another filmmaker at some point.
There have been a ton of rumors, but a trilogy was indeed part of the early rumors.
Miller confirmed two Fury Road sequels have been written. Back in 2016, a prequel starring Charlize Theron was entering pre-production.
