Todd Burpo discusses ‘Heaven is For Real’ film, Greg Kinnear, Randall Wallace and faith
Pastor Todd Burpo chronicled the details of his son’s testimony after a near death experience left him with vivid memories of his visit to heaven. This experience resulted in Burpo’s book Heaven is For Real, which arrives to the big screeens in a new film by Sony Pictures.
Burpo spoke with The Global Dispatch/Dispatch Radio about the film, seeing the real life experiences translated to film, working with director Randall Wallace, star Greg Kinnear and what the fallout has been.
“It’s amazing how this film connects with people on so many levels,” he says after viewing the film with audiences. “It’s a real family. They handle our struggles accurately and honestly. I think they are honest about faith too…we had a lot of questions and they don’t try to hide that…”
Kinnear plays Burpo and his portrayal even draws some fun from Burpo’s friends and family saying “he really nailed you” and “he even walks likes you.”
Burpo thoroughly details the creative process, adapting real life incidents and scenarios. He credits Wallace for bringing the themes of “faith is not just a experience or decision of the intellect” and telling Burpo’s back story, “you’re a real guy” when portraying the difficulties of a pastor.

Strugglers? Faith? We come from God we go back to God end of story.
Everyone is saved, Hindu, Muslim, Jew, Catholic, Christian, Buddhist, everyone.
Thats NOT what Jesus Christ said, and he is the ONLY one that performed miracles far beyond our comprehension. HE is the ONLY one that rose from the dead. This is NOT just in the Bible, but greek and roman history.
Jesus said, I am the way the truth and the life, NO ONE comes to the Father except by me.
So you have to decide, he was a liar or the LORD.
Larry,
What is it more specifically that is the lie?
