Toby Jones talks ‘Captain America The Winter Soldier, the return of Arnim Zola, says ‘you won’t be disappointed’
Red Skull’s right hand man, played by Toby Jones, is one of the confirmed cast members set to return in the next year’s sequel, Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Talking with Coming Soon in a May 22 article, Jones, who plays Arnim Zola, the Nazi scientist who assisted the Red Skull in the first film, discusses his return.
“All I can say about it is that I was pleased to be brought back,” says Jones. “I thought I might be – because you’d know better than I do – but Zola finds a way to defeat time, and you won’t be disappointed with the way that’s been treated in the film.”
While the details haven’t been released, the script is described as a political thriller and Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson have been spotted on set.
“Our first Captain America film was a World War II picture, and the next is a political thriller. They all have their own textures and patinas, and that’s what is exciting about it.”
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo Captain America: The Winter Soldier stars Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo and a reported cameo from Hayley Atwell, and Emily VanCamp as the new female lead.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier will open in theaters April 4, 2014.
