Tim Burton in talks to direct ‘Beetlejuice 2’ with Michael Keaton rumored to be ‘likely to return’
Fans of the ‘Ghost with the Most’ may be happy to hear that the long-awaited sequel appears to be moving ahead with Tim Burton talking about returning to helm the film.
Seth Grahame-Smith had been asked to pen the script for Warner Bros, and it seems it was up to scratch, as Burton has now entered talks with the studio, according to a report by The Wrap.
Michael Keaton is also expected to return to the title role, having previously revealed that “I’d do that in a heartbeat… that’s the one thing I’d love to do again.”
The report claims that Beetlejuice 2 won’t be Burton’s next project, but with a script in place and a leading man potentially on board, the project won’t sit long.
Keaton starred with Geena Davis, Winona Ryder and Alec Baldwin in the 1988 classic fantasy film. A sequel has been “on again, off again” since 1990 when Burton sought a script for Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian (common knowledge, even on wikipedia).
Burton, who is coming off an Oscar nomination as the director of Frankenweenie, recently wrapped the Weinstein Company drama Big Eyes, which stars Amy Adams as painter Margaret Keane and Christoph Waltz as her credit-grabbing husband.
