Three Signs Your Marriage Probably Can’t Be Saved

You swore to love each other till death do you part, but when you’ve gotten to a point in your marriage where you’re wishing one of you would die already it might be time to consider separation, and then divorce. However, if you can still stand to be in the same room with each other you may be able to work through these issues and save your marriage.

There are a couple things that all married couples should do before they call it quits. Start by getting therapy. Then consider a trial separation. If your marriage is at any of the five points it may be better to walk away.

Therapy Didn’t Work

Marriage counseling is a great thing and can do a lot of good for a marriage. However, it doesn’t work for all marriages and there is a point where you may learn that your marriage just isn’t going to work. There are many reasons for a marriage to fail, but it’s not failure if you try to save it before you walk away.

You may also find that one-on-one therapy can help. Maybe your marriage issues are all because of your own thoughts or feelings, so you opt to get help with those. Anxiety, depression, and even addiction are all issues that can work to destroy a marriage but may be able to be helped with counseling.

You Argue All The Time

If all you ever do is argue with your spouse and you can’t even stand to be in the same room as one another, it may be time to end things. A little bit of arguing can be healthy since it shows that you are individuals with different thoughts and interests. But constant arguing means there has definitely been a breakdown in the marital bond.

Arguments are usually a sign that you are not properly communicating in your relationship. Communication is one of the most important keys to a healthy relationship of any kind, making it extra important in marriage. Be open and honest with each other about your feelings, talk about what bothers you, and take time out to discuss your lives with one another.

One Of You Is Cheating

Some marriages can make it through a cheating spouse, but not all of them can. Many times when someone gets away with cheating it makes them more likely to do it again (though not always).

Cheating spouses generally have a reason why they cheat. It could be a sex addiction, it could be that they don’t feel like they’re getting enough attention at home, or it could be that they are bored at home. None of these are good reasons to cheat, and all of them require some therapy to get through the issue.
