Three new MERS coronavirus cases reported from Saudi Arabia, global total now at 149
The World Health Organization (WHO) has been notified of three more laboratory-confirmed cases of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) infection from Saudi Arabia, according to the latest WHO update Thursday.

According to the notice, the three cases include a woman and two men from the Eastern Region in Saudi Arabia, in which one died.
Ine was a health care worker and one had underlying conditions. All three patients reported having no contact with animals prior to their illness, while one patient was reported to have been in contact with a previously laboratory-confirmed case.
In addition, the WHO was informed of the first ever case from Oman reported on yesterday. This patient is a 68-year-old man from Al Dahkliya region who became ill on 26 October 2013 and was hospitalized on 28 October 2013.
Globally, from September 2012 to date, WHO has been informed of a total of 149 laboratory-confirmed cases of infection with MERS-CoV, including 63 deaths.
