Things That Most People Do Not Know About New York Law School

Every single person that talks about law, is involved in the industry or wants to study law knows about the New York Law School. It is incredibly popular and respected, an ABA-accredited law school that is private and that was founded in the year 1891 in New York City, the Lower Manhattan area.

At the moment the dean is Anthony W Crowell. He was a past counselor for Michael R. Bloomberg when he was the mayor of New York City, now managing a faculty of 103 adjunct professors and 77 full-time professors. The New York Law School have many different alumni and students that became big in law and even in business, with CEOs such as Charles Phillips now being highly featured in the media.

There are many things that are known about the law school but others are not that well-known. NYLS now features full-time day program, a 2 year highly accelerated honors program and even an evening part-time program. We have many notable faculty members like Edward A. Purcell Jr, who is a huge authority in the US Supreme Court history, or Nadine Strossen, former president of American Civil Liberties Union.

The list of alumni is huge and quite impressive. We already mentioned Charles Phillips but we can also highlight Maurice R. Greenberg, Judith Sheinlin, Wallace Stevens and John Marshall Harlan II. It was highlighted that close to 90% of the 2015 class gained great employment in under one year after graduation, which is definitely impressive in the world of law schools.

Facilities And Location

Most people think about we only have the main campus of the New York Law School, which is located in Tribeca, New York. What they do not know is that now there is a brand new campus that features the law library, event spaces, collaboration spaces and even classrooms, all in a 235,000 square feet facility. This was the very first building of a large scale that was finished in Manhattan after the 9/11 attacks.

You may also want to know that we have the Rochester University having its NYC center for the Simon School of Business co-located at the New York Law School Facility. It uses the meeting space and the class during weekends as a collaborative arrangement that was signed between the 2 academic institutions.

You will want to know that the New York Law School does offer student housing as a connection with EHS (Educational Housing Services). This is basically a nonprofit organization that is specialized in offering housing for students in New York City. Shared residence halls are found at St. George Towers, close to Brooklyn Heights.

On the whole, we can say that the New York Law Schools is really complex. It highlights many interesting opportunities for people from all around the world, not just from the USA. You will surely appreciate what it offers. Do not look just at the really well-known things that everyone talks about. Also look at facts as what is presented above as that is quite interesting.

  1. Mae Smith says:

It is very expensive — especially for a low ranked school. In addition, for the most recent years New York Law School’s bar passage rate has been well below the state average. For July 2015 the bar passage rate was around 60-61%.
