Theresa Saunders films Stagg High School ‘melee’ ‘brawl’ involving over 100 students in new viral video

Stagg High School was the scene of a shocking “brawl” with at least 100 students fighting and attacking one another, forcing police and paramedics into Stockton Thursday afternoon.

A cell phone video captured the chaos of the off-campus fight…riot, a “Massive melee,” according to the local CBS affiliate. Check out the clip and coverage below.

Theresa Saunders shot video from her flower store across the street from the school.

“This one went from boom boom boom boom, all these different fights,” Saunders said. “It’s like what happened in school? Was it a day to get revenge for each other?”

A lone Stockton Unified School District police officer arrived in an SUV attempt to break up the fights. The officer inside used a loudspeaker commanding people out of the street, but the crowd did not disperse.

“I asked her ‘where the backup?’ she said, ‘they coming,’” Saunders said.

“Two of the young girls were fighting then it turned out to be three or four girls. And then they crossed the street and went into the other alley and tumbled over a couple of cars, fighting, hitting the ground,” said Saunders.

Stockton Unified School District police officers eventual arrived. Video shows officers taking one person into custody.

“All these different fights just started up. It’s like, what happened at school? Was it the day to get revenge with each other? Because it’s too many people fighting and it wasn’t just one race, it was all races. They all were fighting each other,” Saunders said.

District spokesperson Shelly Spessard said students and non-students were involved in the altercation.

“As with all matters of student safety, we have taken this very seriously and have and will act accordingly. Safety and security is a top priority in Stockton Unified,” Spessard said in a statement.

The Stockton Unified School District sent an email to parents Thursday evening alerting them of the incident they call an “ongoing investigation.” A spokesperson said an individual who was treated at a hospital was also arrested for their role in the massive fight.
