The Sierra Club has become a pro-abortion advocacy group
To explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth;
To practice and promote the responsible use of the earth’s ecosystems and resources;
To educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment; and to use all lawful means to carry out these objectives.
This is the mission statement of the Sierra Club, the nation’s largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization, which has been in existence for the past 125 years.
However, it appears protecting the forests, the waters and the endangered species is not the only thing on their agenda. A new part of the Sierra Club’s advocacy tentacles has spread to the arena of abortion.
In fact, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune said, in not so many words: the killing of unborn babies is good for the environment by controlling the population.

In an interview with Tucker Carlson last week, Mr Brune was asked, “Why does legal abortion make the environment better?” He replied, “We believe empowering women’s rights, we think that women who have rights and have the ability to have choice about their reproductive, make their own reproductive choices will help produce strong families and will help to protect the environment at the same time.”
Carlson digs a little deeper saying, “How specifically does more abortion, or legal abortion help the environment?”
“Well it helps to address the number of people that we have on this planet, Brune said. We feel that one of the ways we can get to a sustainable population is to empower women to make choices about their own families.”
Absolutely abhorrent. Maybe Carlson should have followed up with a question on euthanasia.
This is not the first time the “environmental organization” has dipped their toes onto the pro-abortion platform. Just in the past two weeks, Sierra Club Gender, Equity and Environment Director A. Tianna Scozzaro released two staunch pro-abortion statements:
On Jan. 23, in response to President Trump’s reinstatement of the Global Gag Rule, Scozzaro said:
“This weekend, millions of women across the globe marched for women’s rights, including access to reproductive health care — and today Trump proved he was not listening. One day after the 44th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Donald Trump signed an executive order solidifying his administration’s opposition to women’s health and rights. At the risk of women’s health and lives, Trump’s Global Gag Rule forces healthcare providers to face the difficult choice between receiving vital family planning funds and providing comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care.
“The Sierra Club supports voluntary, unrestricted family planning programs that empower men and women to make choices about their families. The Sierra Club does not support the anti-democratic, anti-family planning policy of the Global Gag Rule.”
One day later, Scozzaro said in response to the House passing the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2017”:
“A woman’s right to make decisions about her own body should not be up for debate. Just days after millions of women across the globe marched for women’s rights, including access to reproductive health care, House Republicans proved they are out of touch. The passage of this bill is an egregious attack on women’s rights, and our Senators must vote against this bill.”
It appears the Sierra Club is straying from their mission of protecting the environment into other loathsome and offensive leftist agendas including disregarding the rights of the unborn to grow, develop and live.
