The Need to Look Professional in Taking Corporate Headshots

The last thing you want in a corporate headshot is for people not to take you seriously. You worked hard to maintain a respectable image and sometimes, unfortunately people make harsh judgments based only on one photo. If you are about to take your headshot, you need to look stunning.

Command respect

Although in reality you cannot command respect, you can do so with your photos. You will still earn that respect from the people around you, but having a decent picture is a good start since it shows that you mean business.

Appear friendly

You can also flash a soft smile to show the viewers that you’re not a terrible person. You can command respect and can make people follow you, but you’re still approachable. You do not want to scare people off with your photos, since being a hated boss is as terrible as being a boss no one respects.

Keep things simple

A head shot is not like other photos where you have to show your entire body and you need to be conscious of your actions and poses; for a headshot, only your face will be on display. Keep things as simple as possible – do not wear too many accessories and avoid putting on too much makeup. You need to look fresh and natural without overdoing it.

Some people might not even see you

If you have a high position in a company, most employees working for you might not see you in person so the headshot is their only opportunity to know you and determine whether you are likable or not. You only have one chance to create an impression, and you do not want to blow it.

You have an opportunity to take other photos

If you want a picture that reflects your real personality, you have many chances to do it. You can even take your phone out now and get a selfie or you can also hang out with your friends to grab photos where you are laughing or crying. For this headshot though, you need to look serious for once since again, you might not have another chance to change people’s perception of you.

Hire the best photographer

You can start practicing at home if you want to look stunning on your headshot, however you’ll need a professional photographer for the final photo. If you partner with experts like the ones at https://mikesansonephotography.com you can expect the highest quality results, since these headshot photographers have years of experiences in working with other people. They know what works best for you given your facial shape and can find the right focus and angle. They can also offer advice if you do not yet look your best on the photos taken.

Once the session is over, you can look at the results and decide which of them best captures you and you can ask your photographer to help you decide too, before final publication. Be nice when asking for a repeat session though and maintain professional relationship throughout.
