‘The Lone Ranger’ star Armie Hammer says he’s a ‘pro’ after cowboy camp, praises Johnny Depp
Armie Hammer may have grown up on a farm, but he and the cast of The Lone Ranger had to attend a cowboy camp.
“It was really helpful. It was the difference between standing in the middle of the desert looking at some of the most beautiful scenery you can point a camera at and standing in an air conditioned room at some studio going, ‘This is a lot of green fabric … It just made it that much more real, and hopefully, the audience feels it as well.”
“We all went to cowboy camp … But don’t worry – I’m a pro,” Hammer tells THR.
Hammer plays the title character alongside Johnny Depp as Tonto.
“He’s such a great guy. Nicest guy in the world. He’s fantastic.”
Co-star Barry Pepper discussed the chemistry between Depp’s Tonto and the Ranger, played by Armie Hammer.
“I think Armie and Johnny have a really great dynamic together. It really spins those two iconic characters on their head.I thought it was really cool to see Johnny take on that character, being of Cherokee blood…”
Gore Verbinski directed the movie and produced with Jerry Bruckheimer.
The film also stars Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson and Helena Bonham Carter.
The Lone Ranger is set to be released July 3, 2013.
