‘The Fantastic Four’ wraps, Kate Mara tweets pic with Miles Teller, Jamie Bell, Michael B Jordan
Fox’s reboot of their Fantastic Four franchise officially wrapped and star Kate Mara tweeted a pic with her castmembers for fans. The Aug. 2 tweet announced the wrap and a “thanks to my boys” as the film heads to post-production with a 2015 release set.
UPDATE: Fox reshuffled the schedule and the new release date is Aug. 7, 2015
The House of Cards star Mara, plays Invisible Woman with Divergent co-star Miles Teller playing her spouse who becomes Mr. Fantastic. Jamie Bell, who used motion capture tech to bring Tintin to life, will be transformed into The Thing and Michael B. Jordan is the Human Torch.
Below is her tweet and the pic.
That’s a wrap on #FantasticFour! Thanks to my boys @Miles_Teller@michaelb4jordan@1jamiebell for the fun times… pic.twitter.com/7ZdgvlBsP3 — Kate Mara (@_KateMara) August 2, 2014
Teller responded quickly with a tweet of his own.
And that’s a wrap on the lovely & talented @_KateMara. They couldn’t have picked a better invisible woman for me to lust after — Miles Teller (@Miles_Teller) August 2, 2014
Chronicle director Josh Trank will helm the film which co-stars Toby Kebbell, Tim Blake Nelson, and Reg E. Cathey.
While there are no details yet, Kebbell plays Doctor Doom and will likely battle with Reed Richards (Teller) and the Fantastic Four. The Marvel Comics superteam was created in 1961 by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee. Ten years ago, FOX made two films based on the comic books. They starred Ioan Gruffold, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis and Julian McMahon.
There has been some controversy surrounding the casting of Jordan as Johnny Storm/Human Torch because he’s an African-American and the character is causasian. Creator John Byrne addressed the issue, stating “When it comes to casting a Black actor as Johnny Storm, there is a degree of historical ignorance at work that is insulting to Stan Lee and the memory of Jack Kirby.”
The Fantastic Four will open in theaters on June 19, 2015 and a sequel is already set for a summer 2017 release.
