‘The Fantastic Four’: New photos, plot details, Thing up close and video
Fox is getting busy with a push for The Fantastic Four, a reboot of their Marvel franchise, headed to theaters this summer. Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell take over as the famous superhero team under the direction of Josh Trank.
Empire dropped three new photos, which include a good look at Bell’s motion capture version of Thing as director Trank tells EW that the tone is a cross between Steven Spielberg and Tim Burton; he dubs it “Dark Amblin.”
EW notes that “To help him achieve that, the studio paired him with writer-producer Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past). Trank told Kinberg he had two ambitions. First, the film had to feel scary and very real, more like a horror movie than a superhero flick. And second, it ultimately had to be a coming-of-age story.
“Part of defining yourself,” Kinberg explains, “is that moment when you go from being dependent to being in control of your destiny.”
“We have all the ingredients to make something special,” Jordan says in the post. “Now we have to just wait and see how that cake turns out.”
Toby Kebbell is confirmed to be playing Doctor Doom with Tim Blake Nelson and Reg E Cathey also having key roles.
The Fantastic Four arrives in theaters on August 7, 2015
