‘The Family’ star Floriana Lima joins ‘Supergirl’ season 2 as Maggie Sawyer

The cast of Supergirl continues to grow The Family star Floriana Lima now being cast in the CW series as season two moves forward. Lima has been cast as Maggie Sawyer, a Metropolis Special Crimes Unit officer.

This version of the character is described as being, “a detective for the National City Police Department who takes a special interest in the cases involving aliens.”

John Byrne first introduced the character back in 1987 as part of a metahuman storyline and would be revealed to be a lesbian in the pages of Superman and carried on a romantic relationship with Batwoman.

Season two of Supergirl is shaping up have the addition of several characters like this, Superman, and a very different take on Snapper Carr. Original Wonder Woman star Lynda Carter has been cast as the President of the United States.

This doesn’t mark Maggie’s first appearance in live-action as she was played by Jill Teed in Smallville.

There’s been no sign of her in the DC Films Universe.
