Fans truly embrace these sweet moments on the show and return in droves to support subsequent episodes. The promised proposal truly delivered a great moment for the show.

On Thursday night’s “The Big Bang Theory,” you had an opportunity to see something that most in the fan community have been waiting for quite a long time: Leonard and Penny taking the next step in their relationship after such an incredibly long wait.

The engagement itself happened after Leonard and Penny had one of the worst days possible. Penny got fired from her job on the gorilla movie, and she was wondering whether or not she had a direction for her future. Then, she realized that Leonard was her direction! She could celebrate being with him and extremely happy, and really wouldn’t have to worry very much about everything else. She realized that at the end of the day, having love was more important than fame or success. A sweet moment.

Addressing the fans’ baby rumors, Howard (Simon Helberg) and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) find out what it’s like to have a baby when Howard’s mother breaks her leg from the treadmill. Bernadette was eager to help out his mother and refused to have a nurse take care of her, a request by Howard, but after a few shorts days of having to put up with Mrs. Wolowitz she broke down and opted out to a nurse.

Raj and Sheldon go the movies alone where Raj sees Emily with another man. Raj’s realization that he’s afraid of being alone is why he keeps ending up alone was another step forward for Raj before reconciling with Emily.

There was a fun cameo by fan favorite Wil Wheaton as well.
