The 21st annual First Coast Infectious Diseases/Clinical Microbiology Symposium to be held in Jacksonville Feb 14-15
The First Coast Infectious Diseases/Clinical Microbiology Symposium will be up and running for the 21st time providing health care providers and scientists of all types a fantastic itinerary of world class expert speakers and current topics in infectious diseases and clinical microbiology starting on the afternoon of February 14.
On the Feb. 1 airing of the Outbreak News This Week Radio Show, I had the opportunity to talk to the President and Co-chair of the symposium, Diane C. Halstead, PhD, DABMM, FAAM, to get a brief overview of some of the things happening that two days in Jacksonville (Listen below).
In addition to giving a short history of the educational event, Dr. Halstead discussed what topics would be covered there, which includes: Full Laboratory Automation and Digital Microbiology in the Clinical Microbiology Lab, Gram Stain Interpretations, Clinical & Laboratory Parameters of Sepsis, Infection Control Practices, The Overuse of Antibiotics, New Mycobacteria Diagnostic Tools in Clinical Medicine, Molecular Microbiology in 2014 and “Fungal Puzzlers” Clinical Challenges.
In addition, Halstead confirmed that continuing education credits are available for the following professions–Clinical Laboratory Scientists, Physicians, Nurses, Pharmacists and Pharmacy Consultants.
