Texas: Police identify body in Oyster Creek as missing man George Solis
Texas police in Sugar Land have identified the body found in Oyster Creek on Thursday as George Edgar Solis, a man who was reported missing in Brazoria County on Jan. 29.
The 25-year-old’s body was located by two men fishing in Oyster Creek at about 3 p.m.
“We just recently pulled the body out of the water. The death investigator has ordered an autopsy,” Capt. James Davis, of the Sugar Land Police Department, said. The Sugar Land Police Department is investigating the death, but they say there are no signs of foul play.
An autopsy request has been made with the Galveston County Medical Examiner.
Solis’ abandoned truck was recovered nearby on Jan. 29 at 5:30 a.m. after someone reported seeing the truck empty with the motor running since 1 a.m. that morning.
Police found the truck parked in the mud near Lifetime Fitness, 1331 Highway 6. His cell phone and wallet were still inside, deputies say. Solis was reported missing later that day.
“Devastated, you know? We’re devastated,” Blanca Lee, a relative of Solis, said to KPRC. “My sister is devastated. My brother-in-law is devastated. We’re just going to give them comfort. It’s hard,” Lee said.
“Very sweet, very gentle. ‘Yes, sir. Yes. ma’am.’ Never got in trouble,” Lee added, describing Solis.
