‘Terminator Genisys’ will have sequels set for 2017, 2018
Paramount has confirmed the rumors that the new Terminator film is the first in a new trilogy as they announced a pair of sequels to follow Terminator: Genisys.
“Paramount published the trilogy’s schedule. The release date for the first movie had previously been announced, July 1, 2015. The two other films in the pipeline are currently generically titled ‘Terminator 2’ and ‘Terminator 3,’ and the studio says we can expect to see those in 2017 and 2018 respectively,” reports Tech Times.
The second film in the series is now officially confirmed to arrive in theaters May 19, 2017, while the third film will open on June 29, 2018 according to the new report.
Plot details surrounding Terminator: Genisys remain scarce but will feature the Sarah Connor, John Connor and Kyle Reese characters as well as the T-800.
In addition to the upcoming trilogy, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles writers/producers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz have a new Terminator television series in development. Screen Rant says this series “will tie into the movie reboot trilogy, much as the Marvel/ABC series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. occasionally intersects directly with events depicted in Marvel Studios’ film releases (while still exploring independent stories that occur in the same universe).”
Directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World, Game of Thrones) and co-starring Emilia Clarke, Courtney, Matt Smith, J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi and Jason Clarke, Terminator: Genisys will open in theaaters July 1, 2015.
