Teri James hires Gloria Allred in premarital sex lawsuit after firing from Christian school

Teri James, fired for premarital sex which violated her contract, is suing her former employer and hired famous attorney Gloria Allred.

The pregnant woman is suing over wrongful termination as the San Diego woman allegedly signed a covenant which forbids, among other things, “sexually immoral behavior, to include sex before marriage, was let go in October. She says the firing out of wedlock was insulting.

According to a Life Inc, San Diego Christian College faces a civil lawsuit after it fired James for premarital sex. While the school cited its policy given up front to all incoming employees, the terminated worker says that she was humiliated over the incident.

The lawsuit says the woman worked for the school for two years and signed the college’s covenant in August, supposedly weeks before she became pregnant.

One day, without warning, her supervisor called her into the office and asked her about rumors regarding being with child. After she confirmed her pregnancy, she was fired for having sex out of wedlock.

The woman says she was embarrassed could only imagine the gossip that began after everyone learned she was fired for having premarital sex.

“I had to leave right after the meeting. I had to go into the office with all of my co-workers and say I’m leaving,” James said. “I never came back so I don’t know what my co-workers thought, but for me, it was humiliating. I felt like I was in trouble.”

Also insulting, James said, was that after firing her, the school offered a job to her then-fiancé – they are now married – even though it was known that he, too, engaged in premarital sex.

He did not accept the job, she said.

San Diego Christian College asks that its employees sign its “community covenant,” a two-page contract that asks its community, which includes employees and about 500 students on-site, to abstain from drugs, alcohol and tobacco and “abusive anger, malice, jealousy, lust, sexually immoral behavior including premarital sex, adultery, pornography and homosexuality, evil desires and prejudice based on race, sex or socioeconomic status.”

“We all had to sign it,” James said. “I needed a job in this economy and so I never thought that anything would happen — I just needed a job.”

Added Allred: “It does not say that you will be fired if you do not comply.”

James hopes to not only clear her name from the alleged humiliating act; she wants to change the way the public and religious organizations treat women who want to start a family.

“I want to pave the way, say, Christian organizations, you can’t necessarily fall back on this. You can’t hurt people like this. If you say that you stand for love and mercy and grace — stand for those who are weak,” James said.

  1. Wayne Brown says:

She took a job in a Christian school and signed a pledge to uphold Christian moral values (including a specific prohibition on premarital sex). Then she lied and broke her WRITTEN word, behaved in an immoral manner, and was “embarrassed” and “humiliated” because she was fired when she got caught?! Well, good! She SHOULD be embarrassed and humiliated! That’s an appropriate result for immoral behavior. It’s too bad she wasn’t ashamed and repentant, too, which would be even more appropriate. If she had confessed and asked forgiveness I would have some sympathy. Instead she’s indignant that she won’t be allowed to go on teaching in a Christian school while demonstrating unChristian values. I certainly wouldn’t want her teaching MY children!
