Tattooed NC shooter, Kenneth Stancil, arrested in Florida, asleep on the beach
The suspect wanted in Monday’s shooting death of a print shop director at a community college in North Carolina has been arrested in Daytona Beach, Fla. found asleep on the beach, according to police.
Police in Goldsboro, N.C., said the accused gunman, Kenneth Stancil III, was found sleeping on the beach, which is a violation of a city ordinance, discovered by Volusia County Beach Safety officers around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Stancil, 20, allegedly used a rifle to shoot and kill Ron Lane, his former work-study boss, in the print shop at Wayne Community College Monday morning. The shooting put the campus on lockdown as police searched for Stancil.
Classes were scheduled to resume Tuesday at the college.
Officials in North Carolina said they will have Stancil extradited from Florida to face murder charges.
Volusia County Jail officials said Stancil would make his first appearance in court Tuesday afternoon.
Stancil has an Aryan Brotherhood prison tattoo along the front of his neck as well as a large tattoo across the left side of his face.
