Tampa Comic Con draws massive crowds TV, Sci-Fi, comic book fans: cosplay photos
Tampa Comic Con is enduring a massive growth and fan intest, even moving to the massive Convention Center. With the larger venue came a larger selection of guests from TV’s hottest shows, popular movies and comic books.
Convention organizer Stephen Solomon told TBO.com that he expected 20,000 people during the entire three-day weekend event.
“We got more than 20,000 in one day,” said Solomon, a managing member of Orlando-based Action3 Events and Promotions, which runs the Tampa Bay Comic Con.
Solomon said Saturday’s enormous turnout probably was due to the mainstream appeal of having actors from popular television shows such as Game of Thrones and Walking Dead signing autographs.
The flood of fans made it difficult to get fans into the hall quickly. This became a MegaCon crowd in a event not quite prepared for that turnout.
“People like comics, people like toys. We have stars from the most popular shows here, Game of Thrones, Walking Dead and the Hunger Games films so I guess when you mix all that together it appeals to a large amount of people,” said Solomon.
Loren Cohen and Chad Coleman from AMC’s The Walking Dead headlined a guest list which included three stars from Game of Thrones and Willow Shields from The Hunger Games.
“Wow, this is incredible,” said one 17-year-old just snapping pictures of the massive crowd.
Obviously the other key aspect to the show is the cosplay, see below (George Perez signing for fans is also included)
