Swedish woman, Lena Pettersson gets refund after spending long flight next to corpse
A Swedish reporter received a refund for half her plane ticket after spending the lengthy flight from Amsterdam to Tanzania on the African continent sitting next to a dead body.
Lena Pettersson, a reporter for Sveriges Radio, noticed that her co-passenger wasn’t looking well shortly after boarding at Schiphol airport.
Pettersson told Sveriges Radio in an interview, “He was sweating and was having convulsions”, although flight attendents noticed his condition, the flight departed anyway to its destination of Dar es Salaam.
The unidentified man was given a heart massage soon after take off but he died a couple of hours later.
For the remaining 10 hours of the flight, Pettersson got to sit next to the new corpse. The incredibly understanding Pettersson said, “Of course it was unpleasant, but I am not a person who makes a fuss.”
However, after her holiday in Africa, Pettersson did seek compensation from Kenya Airways as she stated that she was not entirely satisfied with her flight experience.
After a couple of months of email communication with Kenya Airways, Pettersson was refunded some 5000 kronor ($713), around half the cost of her ticket.
