‘Supergirl’ season 2: Lena Luthor rumored to make an appearance

TV Line is reporting that The CW is looking to cast five new characters for the second season of Supergirl. Most intriguing of these is Lena Luthor, a sister of Lex Luthor who first debuted in the comics back in 1961.

Here’s TV Line’s description of the character: “Lena Luthor, who will be in the 25-35 year old range, arrives in town to get out from under the shadow of her infamous brother. She’s described as sexy and smart and determined to get what she wants. But what does she want? That remains unclear.”

The news came just days after the confirmation that Superman is set to show up in Supergirl season 2.

The casting process to find a new Kal-El is now underway. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said this in an official Warner Bros TV statement.

“Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl. Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”

As soon as we hear who’s been cast in this role – and/or any of the others – we’ll be sure to let you know. Could it be Tom Welling, returning to play grown-up Supes after all these years? We’ll have to wait and see.

Supergirl’s production will have to move from Los Angeles to Vancouver, the home of The CW’s superhero stable. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Calista Flockhart will stay with the show despite this move, contrary to rumors that floated around the web purporting that she wouldn’t leave LA.
