Star Wars Celebration VI cosplay dominates convention
While Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill were present and a massive setup at the Orange County Convention Center welcomed fans for Star Wars Celebration VI, it was the fans dressed like their favorite Star Wars characters that really energizes the convention.
From Thursday to Sunday, this weekend’s 35,000-plus Star Wars fans pile into the enormous Orlando convention center to share their love of the George Lucas Sci-Fi universe.
Lisa Merritt, from Seattle, dressed as the popular Slave Leia, says “It’s just a lot of fun. Really cool.”
Old to young, fat to skinny, tall to short – there is everything. From Darth Vader to Princess Leia, from Stormtroopers to Rebel Soldiers, and from alien Jedi Knights to make-up cover red Sith Lords – there is everything.
With an expected 35,000 guests, Star Wars Celebration truly showcases some of the best costumes and role players in the nation.
One guest admitted she spent hours transforming into Darth Talon. Red body paint and tattoos, combined with armor and her red lightsaber, all resulted in an amazing transformation which had fans lining up to pose for photographs.
The 501st Legion was on-hand and the convention was packed with Stormtroopers, Biker Scouts, Snowtroopers and of course, Darth Vaders and a couple of Emperors.
A garrison of Stormtroopers marched through the convention hall and posed for a group photograph which drew a fan frenzied audience, all snapping photos and videos of their own.
While the experience is massive and intense, a sixteen-year-old summed it up well stating: “Wow, that’s cool.”
Yes. Yes, it is.
