‘Star Trek’ TV show trailer excites fans, concerns others
Back on TV is Star Trek, filming in Toronto later this year in time for a 2017 airing in January.
The teaser offers little, but should excite fans with the tagline “New crews, New villains, New heroes,New Worlds.” Check if out below.
No Spock…No Kirk, in fact, it’s been reported this series will take place between the popular original series and Star Trek: The Next Generation.
The new Star Trek TV series will be helmed by Hannibal’s Bryan Fuller.
Forbes writes that the trailer brings “hope and despair.”
“All of the Star Trek shows so far have been successful because people have fallen in love with their universes. The movies are a success because they trade on the brand, some well-known (and talented) actors and a lot of flashy explosions. I’m fine with the movies, but for me they aren’t Trek. The show, with its extended chance to explore the characters is what Star Trek was about. The original movies were the reward for that after the show was established, they worked because we loved that crew. Hell, if there had been no series and Star Trek: The Motion Picture had been launched as Star Wars was, I don’t think we’d ever have seen any more from the franchise.”
