‘Star Trek Discovery’ cast ‘Office Space’ star Rainn Wilson As Conman Harry Mudd
From Office Space to Star Trek, the resume for Rainn Wilson just got a bit more interesting as the star has been cast as Mudd for the CBS All Access new series: Star Trek: Discovery.
“Roger C. Carmel originated the character, aka Harcourt Fenton Mudd, in the 1960s Star Trek series, appearing in one episode of each of the first two seasons. He would reprise the role in a 1973 episode of Star Trek: The Animated Series,” Deadline noted in their reporting on the casting update.
Star Trek: Discovery will feature a new ship, new characters and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.
The series will premiere on the CBS with all subsequent episodes available on CBS All Access.
Wilson is famous for his Emmy nominated role as Dwight Schrute on the Office Space TV series opposite Steve Carell which ended in 2013.
Walking Dead alum Sonequa Martin-Green landed the lead role in the series as a lieutenant commander aboard the Discovery, the cast includes Michelle Yeoh as Starfleet Captain Georgiou, Doug Jones as Starfleet Science Officer and alien Lt. Saru, Anthony Rapp as “astromycologist” and fungus expert Lt. Stamets, and a trio of kilngons played by Chris Obi, Shazad Latif, and Mary Chieffo.
James Frain, who played Azrael on Fox’s Gotham, has been cast as Spock’s dad, Sarek. Jason Isaacs has been cast as Lorca, Captain of the Discovery, but all reports point to the show centering around Martin-Green’s character.
The 13 episode first season is set for a Fall release.
