Stan Lee: No ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ cameo, Tom Hiddleson ‘great Loki’ and Affeck Batman

Comics legend Stan Lee, who to date has had cameos in 18 live-action films based on Marvel characters, won’t appear in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

Asked in a recent Dweebcast interview whether we can expect to see him in the space adventure, the 91-year-old Lee replied,

Stan Lee Agents of SHIELD cameo roleNo, I’m afraid not, that’s the one group I didn’t create. I didn’t write Guardians of the Galaxy. I’m not even sure who they all are. I can’t wait to see the movie.”

As Nerd Bastards detail, Lee didn’t appear in PunisherElektraPunisher: War ZoneX-Men Origins: WolverineThe Wolverine — all headlined by characters he didn’t have a hand in creating — or X-Men: First Class (which as Lee explained that production was located just too far away).

Onto other topics: Tom Hiddleston as Loki.

“Not only is he a great actor, and a great Loki, he’s one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. I have become very friendly with him and I am very happy for his success. I unfortunately don’t have time to hang out with him, but every time I am at a red carpet doing a cameo, I am always with him.”

Ben Affleck as Batman.

“I think he will make a wonderful Batman. I think he is much better than people think he is. He is intelligent and he’s a good actor. I think he did not do quite as well in Daredevil as everyone had hoped he would. I blame the directing though beyond anything else.”

Lee can next be seen on the Feb. 4 episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.IE.L.D

Guardians of the Galaxy stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Karen Gillan, Lee Pace and Benecio Del Toro.

The film opens in theaters August 1, 2014.
