‘Spider-Man Homecoming’ writers, ‘Game Night’ directors hired for ‘Flashpoint’
Before their action-comedy film Game Night hits theaters, directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein have apparently landed a big new Warner Bros. role: direct Flashpoint, the solo film in the DCEU that features Ezra Miller‘s Barry Allen, a.k.a. The Flash.
Variety reports that Francis Daley and Goldstein are in negotiations to helm the film: “…the studio seems to eye a comedic tone for the film, given the duo’s directing background on movies like Vacation and the upcoming Game Night, starring Jason Bateman.”
The duo also wrote the script to Spider-Man: Homecoming and were once considered to direct it. Obviously fans embraced the balance of comedy and action, so Warner Bros is clearly seeking the same elements with Flashpoint.
Flashpoint had been on hold since director Rick Famuyiwa stepped away from the project over “creative differences.”
While looking for his replacement, the studio decided to take the script in a different direction. Joby Harold has turned in a new draft after a page-one rewrite.
Miller is set to shoot Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, the second installment in the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
New Line exec Walter Hamada was recently promoted to oversee its comic book movies at Warner Bros after the Justice League film’s disappoint at the box office and with fans.
