‘Spider-Man Homecoming’ sequel, ‘Silver and Black’ Spidey spin-off and ‘Maleficent 2’ have production start dates
Several major studio tentpole projects have set production start dates with Omega Underground reporting a June 1st through September shoot for the Spider-Man Homecoming sequel which is expected to shoot in Atlanta and Berlin.
Speaking of “Spider-Man,” the spin-off feature Silver and Black focusing on Silver Sable and Black Cat is aiming for a March 5th to June shoot according to That Hashtag Show.
While Untitled, the new film will have director Jon Watts back with star Tom Holland and Zendaya set to play Michelle Jones, nicknamed M.J. at the end of the first film.
Spider-Man Homecoming sequel arrives on July 5, 2019.
The Silver and Black film will open February 8, 2019 with director Gina Prince-Bythewood.
Disney’s Maleficent sequel has set an April 16th to August film shoot, with Angelina Jolie returning as titular character. Shooting will take place in the UK with Joachim Ronning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) directing.
Jolie has expressed great excitement for the script written by Linda Woolverton (who also penned the first Maleficent) and Spectre cowriter Jez Butterworth, promising Maleficent 2 will be a “really strong sequel.”
2014’s Maleficent was a huge hit for the studio, opening with the top spot with $69.4 million, en route to $241.4 million domestic, $517.1 million international and $758.5 million worldwide, from a $180 million budget.
Maleficent 2 doesn’t have an official release date yet.
