‘Spider-Man Homecoming’ adds Tony Revolori, Laura Harrier with Michael Keaton rumored as villain
Debuting in Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man will return in a standalone film, officially revealed to be titled Spider-Man: Homecoming.
While Sony and Marvel have declined comment on the talks, Deadline is reporting that Michael Keaton is in talks in joining the film, presumably as the villain, likely to be Vulture.
Keaton donned a rubber suit for a comic book film for the first time in Tim Burton, then again in 1992’s Batman Returns, of course, the recent film, Birdman, which is an intereseting connection to the Vulture character.
Tom Holland plays the webslinger with Marisa Tomei, who also appears in Civil War playing Aunt May, and Zendaya Coleman appearing in a yet-to-be-revealed role.
Grand Budapest Hotel’s Tony Revolori will reportedly be playing the high school “nemesis/enemy” Holland’s Peter Parker, but Deadline specifically says he “isn’t a super villain.” The Wrap says that One Life To Live star Laura Harrier has also just been hired for a “significant role” in Homecoming.
The Vulture previously was a possibility for Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, with John Malkovich in talks. John Watts is directing Spider-Man: Homecoming, with John Francis Daley & Jonathan M. Goldstein writing.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to arrive into theaters on July 7, 2017.
