South Carolina murder suicide: Rashad Patton killed by husband Olsen Patton, who then shot himself
Officials in South Carolina have identified those dead in a murder suicide in Berkeley County as Rashad Patton and Olsen Patton.
Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury pronounced Olsen Patton, 44, dead at the scene as police responded to a 911 call at 5:16 p.m. near the 200 block of Samantha Way in Goose Creek. Olsen’s wife, Rashad Patton, 37, was transported to Trident Medical Center where she was pronounced dead and her death was ruled a homicide.
Both individuals were found in the yard of the home by deputies with Olsen’s death being confirmed as a suicide.
Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Maj. Jeremy Baker confirmed all of the details provided by the coroner.
Salisbury also stated that there have been five homicides and 15 suicides in Berkeley County during 2018.
Goose Creek High School was placed on lockdown for some time near the end of its fall festival following reports of shots fired in the area, the school posted on Facebook. Leaders say the school was placed on lockdown as a precaution to ensure visitor and student safety.
The lockdown was later lifted and the event continued with a scheduled performance at 7:00 p.m.
