‘Son of God’ has pre-sold half a million tickets to religious groups across the US
History Channel’s The Bible was such a massive hit that creators have spun off a motion picture to land in theaters next week. Reports across the Internet confirm massive efforts to pre-buy and give away tickets.
Compassion International, a Christian group that sponsors children in poverty-stricken nations, told The Hollywood Reporter that it purchased 225,000 tickets across 40 cities. The group has bought out entire screenings in some cases, working with local churches to distribute the tickets.
Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University, the largest Christian college in the world, bought out all 14 screens of a Regal multiplex near the Virginia campus. The theater will show nothing but “Son of God” on the movie’s opening day, which leaves Liberty to give away tickets by the thousands.
Megachurch pastors Rick Warren and Joel Osteen have both joined the movement, as have San Diego’s Rock Church and others.
Osteen and his wife purchased 8,000 tickets to distribute.
THR reports that, per industry insiders, nearly 500,000 advance tickets have already been purchased, which means Son of God will open with a substantial box office opening.
Spun off from The Bible: Now, the larger-than-life story of The New Testament gets a larger-than life treatment in the stand-alone feature SON OF GOD. Told with the scope and scale of an action epic, the film features powerful performances, exotic locales, dazzling visual effects and a rich orchestral score from Oscar®-winner Hans Zimmer. Portuguese actor Diogo Morgado portrays Jesus as the film spans from his humble birth through his teachings, crucifixion and ultimate resurrection. It marks the first motion picture about Jesus’ life since Passion of the Christ, released ten years ago.
Son of God opens in theaters February 28, 2014.
[…] The Bible, Son of God, focuses entirely on the life of Jesus and the Christian community is rallying behind the film to get strong box office numbers to build […]
This movie presents another Jesus, not the Jesus of the Bible. Why would anyone who calls himself a Christian go to see this film? Haven’t they read God’s warning, that if anyone adds to, or detracts from the Scripture they are accursed? But then, the apostate church of today lauds entertainment over truth. It won’t be very entertaining when the Lord Jesus returns in firey judgment.

I doubt that many whites would pay to see a blue black actor portray Jesus but we are supposed to be fine with him not looking like a Jew born in the Middle East?
One day another authentic story of the New Testament will be made like the Gospel of John the Visual Bible put out some years ago. This movie Roma and her husband is milking for every dime changed key events and made Jesus into a white sex god symbol surfer type and not how real Middle Eastern Jews look.
I’m sorry but this film did not depict various events as portrayed in the New Testament. That blond Jesus was so fake and not like what Middle Eastern Jews look like. For all you folks who are bound to slam me for saying this would not pay to see a dark black Jesus is my good guess!
