‘Solo A Star Wars Story’ Update: new posters, Chewie’s line are scripted, romance in the film
Just weeks away from another Star Wars film, Solo: A Star Wars Story, has fans excited, so let’s catch on some recent events and news surrounding the film. There are a couple of new posters as well, UK and Japan, check them out at the bottom.
Despite the language barrier between fans and Chewbacca, the two hundred year old Wookiee has remained a fan-favourite since Star Wars debuted back in 1977.
Writers, Lawrence Kasdan and Jonathan Kasdan recently revealed how the Wookiee’s dialogue is handled in scripts during an appearance on The Star Wars Show. Jonathan Kasdan explained that in the film’s script they actually write out Chewie’s lines.
“In this script, we wrote every one of Chewie’s lines. We wanted Alden (Ehrenreich), who was playing Han, to know what was being said to him. So he would know what to play, regardless of what he interpreted from the moan.”
Lawrence Kasdan recently discussed with Empire that he perceives Solo: A Star Wars Story as a romance, of sorts.
“It’s a love story. Obviously, they don’t automatically trust each other and become friends. But that’s all the meat of a good story.
“To me, this is a love story between Han and Chewie. Their relationship has always been my favorite part of the saga, and the fact that only Han understands what Chewie is saying, I find a very funny possibility for comedy … Wookiees have so many positive qualities. But what they don’t do is make it easy for you to get in.”
