‘Solo A Star Wars Story’: Solo cups, John Williams done with the score, stolen posters

Lucasfilm and Disney dropped the first look at Solo: A Star Wars Story the Super Bowl.

The film stars Alden Ehrenreich as a younger iteration of the titular Star Wars character made iconic by Harrison Ford, and charts his early adventures as he first crosses paths with Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) and the Millennium Falcon first comes to be in his possession.

Woody Harrelson and Emilia Clarke also star: Clarke plays Qui’Ra and Harrelson, a scoundrel…a mentor of sorts.

The marketing now goes into full swing, with Solo cups at Denny’s, John Williams says he’s done with the score and Lucasfilm is being accused of stealing/plagiarizing the posters (see the Solo version below).

Here is Hachim Bahous’ official accusation against Disney, courtesy of his Facebook:

“Left the official posters of the next Star Wars (Disney), right the compiles for which I made the creation in 2015 for Sony Music France / Legacy Recordings France following the brief of the project leader Romain ‘Rpiz’ Pizon.
I am flattered that the quality of my work is recognized, but it is still pure and simple forgery, I have not been asked for my permission, I wish to be credited and paid for this work I have done for Sony!
A thought for everyone who worked hard on this very beautiful project: Dj Reverend P (Patrice Larrar), Richard LecocqAurélien OrelDavid HachourYazid Manou and Yazid Manou So Romain ‘Rpiz’ Pizon.

Some fans are troubled by the Harrison Ford exit and passing of the torch to the young cast. Ford doesn’t seem to mind, stating in a recent interview how he felt about “passing the Star Wars baton” and this was his blunt response:

“I don’t know that I thought of it that way at all. I was there to die. And I didn’t really give a rat’s ass who got my sword.”

Slash Film perfectly summarized the drama behind the film: “Solo arrives under the cloud of a troubled production. The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street helmers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were originally hired to direct the film, but after months of shooting, the duo were fired after clashing with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. Ron Howard then came in to take over. Since then, rumors have stated that Howard reshot a huge chunk of the film, while some people involved with the production – including co-star Thandie Newton – suggest that a large amount of what Lord and Miller shot remains.”

Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon Kasdan wrote the screenplay. Solo also stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca) while Paul Bettany has been added as a character that Michael Kenneth Williams was expected to play, but instead of being a motion-capture alien, he’ll be a real person.

Solo: A Star Wars Story releases in U.S. theaters on May 25, 2018

Here’s the official synopsis for Solo: A Star Wars Story:
