‘Solo A Star Wars Story’ is the official name of the Han Solo prequel film
From StarWars.com: “In a surprise announcement today, director Ron Howard revealed the official name of the untitled Han Solo film: Solo: A Star Wars Story. The announcement came in a post in which the acclaimed filmmaker (with a little help from an anonymous Wookiee) thanked his cast and crew as principal photography wrapped.”
Howard tweeted a video clip: “Hey #Twitterville we just wrapped production so here’s a special message #StarWars”
Howard has documented his experience making Solo: A Star Wars Story on Twitter and Instagram throughout production — with everything from photos with cast members to teases of vehicle controls to shots of his morning coffee. StarWars.com has compiled all of his updates in one post, which you can view here.
Solo: A Star Wars Story, set prior to the events of the original Star Wars trilogy, is slated for release on May 25, 2018.
Alden Ehrenreich is playing a younger version of the character originated by Harrison Ford in the original Star Wars trilogy and 2015’s Episode VII.
The Han Solo pic also stars Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca). Directors Phil Lord & Christopher Miller were dropped from Han Solo after creative rifts with Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy and screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan.
Paul Bettany has been added as a character that Michael Kenneth Williams was expected to play, but instead of being a motion-capture alien, he’ll be a real person.
