SNL mocks Laura Ingraham as REAL advertisers return to show, ratings

A major advertiser announced that it is returning to Laura Ingraham’s “The Ingraham Angle” on Fox News after the show faced an intense boycott over a tweet that offended David Hogg of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. At the same time, Saturday Night Live‘s “Weekend Update” featured Kate McKinnon. as Ingraham, promoting her “new” advertisers.

“It’s so good to be back after that planned vacation. It was so fun and so planned and so scheduled a long time ago. The important thing is I’m back. And I’m not going to cave from bullying from the ‘tolerant: left,'” McKinnon jabbed, using air quotes and alluding to Ingraham’s week off after the feud with Hogg peaked.

Then came the list of her replacement sponsors: “Like Carl’s Sr.: ‘Leftover Carl’s Jr. food ground to mush for old people. Mmm, Carl’s Sr.’ And Your Pillow. From the makers of My Pillow. ‘Send us your pillow. We need more pillows.’ Or how about Shkreli’s Jelly. It’s just jelly that’s $8,000 a jar.”

Ingraham lost multiple advertisers after she tweeted out an article that mocked Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg for not getting into colleges to which he applied. Hogg called for a boycott, even released personal emails of advertisers before taking that tweet down and drew attacks for taking his response too far.

Meanwhile, the real show, “The Ingraham Angle” is already bouncing back.

In an email to TheWrap, a spokeswoman for Ace Hardware said that the company reversed its decision and apologized for having “incomplete information” when it made the initial decision to drop advertisements from Ingraham’s show.

“Advertising on any network or show is in no way an endorsement from Ace of the content contained or spoken within that program,” Ace Hardware’s statement said. “We appreciate the different points of view from our customers, and believe people should be treated with respect and civility.”

HuffPo pointed to outrage on twitter, some calling for a boycott on ACE.

According to Mediaite, Ingraham’s show, “The Ingraham Angle,” averaged 2.69 million viewers this week, while her closest competitor, Lawrence O’Donnell of MSNBC, averaged 2.6 million viewers. “CNN Tonight,” which is hosted by anchor Don Lemon, averaged far less viewers: 1.29 million

However, O’Donnell was able to best Ingraham in the coveted 25-54 demographic by just several tens of thousands of viewers. She show finished in second on three of the first four days of this week.
